A New Door Opens in Manzanillo: “Puerto de Paz”
“Is there a church here where we can grow?”
It’s a simple question, but in the bustling port city of Manzanillo, it was a cry for help. For many arriving on the Pacific coast in search of work and stability, the physical “better future” is easy to find, but the spiritual one is often missing. God has heard that cry, and He is opening a door that started with just a handful of people and a big vision.
What began as a small group of believers has quickly become something much bigger. It is now a strategic opportunity to bring the hope of the Gospel to one of Mexico’s most vital cities.
🌱 From Struggle to a Thriving Church
This church plant is being led by Pastor José Luis Rodríguez and his wife Mariel, and it is a daughter church of Puerta de Salvación in Colima.
When I first began working with Pastor José Luis, his church was struggling and had only a handful of people. It was a season that required faith and perseverance.
But God has been faithful.
Today, that church is thriving, and now they are stepping out again in faith to plant a new church in Manzanillo.
This is what we love to see—a healthy church multiplying to reach others.
🙌 A New Work Begins in Manzanillo
Just three months ago, a core group of 12 believers began gathering in Manzanillo. Most are young adults with a desire to grow and reach others.
This small group represents something powerful:
The beginning of a future church.
They are being discipled, meeting regularly, and building a strong spiritual foundation.
Pastor José Luis visits monthly to teach, pray, and encourage them, while ongoing support is provided through virtual meetings, counseling, and pastoral care.
We are praying that this ministry takes root as a Mission Center, with the ultimate goal of flourishing into a permanent local church.
