Darkness in Cuba… and the Light of Christ
Cuba has just experienced its second-largest blackout in the past few weeks.
Life there is already incredibly difficult—but somehow, it continues to grow even harder. The stories we hear from our friends are almost unimaginable. As Ailyn shared:
“No matter how much someone tries to explain it, it’s impossible for people to understand what we’re going through.”
For many, especially those who do not know Christ, the weight of these circumstances feels unbearable. Hope is fading. The number of suicides is rising. More people are becoming homeless. Despair is spreading.
A Story That Breaks the Heart
Yaima recently shared a heartbreaking story about a young boy named Israel.
Israel lives with his parents and two siblings. Just a month ago, his father was in poor health and struggling with severe anxiety. He was unable to provide for his family, and their situation became desperate.
At one point, the family had gone three days without food. They were weak, dehydrated, and unsure how they would survive.
But in the midst of that need, God made a way.
Through your support, Yaima and the team were able to visit the family and bring a small but meaningful blessing. They gave Israel a backpack and a pair of shoes for school.
His mother began to cry.
Not only had they gone without food—but they also had no way to provide even the most basic necessities for their son.
A Small Gift… A Powerful Reminder
That simple gift meant more than just shoes and a backpack.
It was a reminder that:

Israel’s story is just one of many.
