This is the daily reality across the island of Cuba right now. Yet, in the middle of these widespread hardships, something remarkable is happening: the light of Christ is shining brighter than ever through simple acts of love.
Through Hannah’s Toys of Hope, our local leaders and church planters remain on the frontlines, stepping into dark situations to bring tangible help and eternal hope to children facing unimaginable circumstances.
Recently, one of our leaders, Yaima, shared two powerful stories that show exactly what your generosity makes possible.
Carlos Antonio: Restoring Dignity and Hope
Carlos Antonio is a young boy with special needs whose family life has been marked by deep heartache. His mother, struggling with HIV, is rarely home, leaving Carlos in the care of his step-dad. When our team first met him, he lacked even basic necessities like shoes and adequate clothing.
Yaima and her team stepped in with open arms and the love of Jesus. They blessed Carlos with a new backpack, socks, and a pair of tennis shoes. As they sat with his family to pray and offer encouragement, something beautiful happened: the entire neighborhood took notice.
As watchful neighbors looked on with curiosity and expectation, a seed of the Gospel was planted not just in Carlos’s home, but across the entire community.
Yunier: Bringing Joy to a Young Laborer
Nearby live Manuel and Mailín, key members of our Hannah’s Toys of Hope ministry team. For months, they have been building a relationship with a teenager named Yunier and his family.
Instead of attending school, Yunier spends long, grueling days making charcoal to sell so he can help his mother and grandmother put food on the table. Through Manuel and Mailín’s faithful witness, Yunier and his family have recently begun attending church!
To encourage this hardworking young man, our team presented him with brand-new shoes and socks. For a boy carrying such heavy adult responsibilities, this small gift was a massive comfort—and a powerful reminder that God sees him and cares for him.
