God’s Fountain of healing love!
Rocio, Hannah, Ivan and Aaron

Rocio, Hannah, Ivan and Aaron

This last week Hannah and I visited our Pastor Ivan and Rocio at their church in Ribera de Bosque. It is always a real joy to spend some time with these special friends, and to see what God is doing in their midst.

They are in the middle of building an upstairs room on their church, so that someone can stay their and take care of the property. Unfortunately, thieves have broken into the church stolen sound equipment among other items.

It’s sad when people will stoop to stealing from a church, but it does happen more than we’d like.

Aaron’s Story
Hannah & Dave

Hannah & Dave

Aaron one of the members on Ivan’s church was helping put shingles on the roof of the upstairs room.  Dawn and I had met Aaron before. Part of Aaron’s story is that he was involved in a terrible automobile accident when he was younger, and he seriously injured his foot.

He recently had skin graft surgery to take care of lesions on his foot. We have been praying for Aaron and God’s healing touch for about a year now.

When we saw Aaron last week, I asked him if it was okay for Hannah and me to pray for him. He said yes, so he came down from the roof.

I began and started praying for him, and then Hannah took over. The Lord has gifted Hannah in incredible ways. She has a tender heart of mercy and loves to pray for people.

As Hannah prayed and ministered to Aaron he began to cry. The Lord ministered to his spirit in a deep way. He shared some of his personal trials as we prayed.

Aaron mentioned that he was in pain, so we prayed for Aaron’s pain and that the Lord would heal his foot.  After Hannah prayed for a while Aaron said that the pain had diminished! He was feeling better.

Hallelujah! We pray for further and deeper healing in his life.

Christ in his mercy is doing a wonderful work in Hannah’s life. It’s so encouraging to see! Thank you Jesus! The Lord not only is transforming Hannah’s life, but he’s using her to bring healing to others.

Join Us In Prayer!

Join us in prayer for God’s continued healing work in Aaron’s life. Pray for the Lord’s protection over Hannah as she grows in faith and the Lord uses her to minister to those who are hurting.

God’s Amazing Work!
Dave preaching at Monte Sion

Dave preaching at Monte Sion

The Lord gave us an incredible time on Sunday in Tijuana at Monte Sion with pastor Jaime Avila and his wife, Claudia. Pastor Jaime is just beginning to come into the Lo Mejor del Trigo network of churches. We’ve gotten to know each other through the training on life transformation that I’ve taken Jaime and some of the other LMT pastors to.

God keeps taking us and the pastors deeper, which is exciting!

Dawn, Hannah, David, our nephew Tyler, our friend Polly and I all went to pastor Jaime’s church. What a marvelous time of fellowship it was!

The Lord gave us an invigorating time praying for the people in the church after my sermon. It ministered to our spirit to see the Lord touch the people. There was much brokenness and healing as they confessed their sins, and asked God to meet them in their place of need.

There are a number of things that I enjoy about the work that God has called us to. One of my favorites is visiting the churches of the pastors we are working with, and having the opportunity to exhort and encourage the people.

As we’ve ministered in this way we’ve found it to be a tremendous encouragement to the pastors, the members of their church and to us. The Lord is using us in new ways as we learn more about prayer and addressing root issues.

Glory be to God!

A Testimony of God’s Saving & Healing Work!

After the service we had the opportunity to get to know Jaime and Claudia better.

Jaime has an unbelievable testimony. He was caught in a life of addiction for 15 years before God broke through and redeemed him. During that time he lost everything – his wife, his job, his family and his dignity then he cried out to God for help.

God heard his cry. He found a church and he came to Christ!

The Lord took away his desire for the drugs and he came back to his family. He invited his wife, Claudia to visit the church and she gave her life to Christ a month later.

Claudia had epilepsy. She suffered from epileptic seizures for 13 years. She was told that she would have epilepsy for the rest of her life.

Then Jaime saw someone healed of epilepsy at the church he was going to, and he told Claudia about it. She decided to go the church. They prayed for her and she was gloriously healed of her epilepsy. She has not had a seizure for 20 years, and she doesn’t have to take medicine. What an amazing God we serve!

Join Us In Prayer!

Pray with us for Jaime and Claudia as they seek to reach their community and grow the church. The church has been through some recent trials, but God is bringing about healing and wholeness as they minister. The Lord is also doing a healing work in their family.

We see so much brokenness, so much need, but God is greater still than all our sin and sorrow. He brings restoration, and meets us in our place of need.

Open Doors in Osaka

The Lord opened up a great door for me here in Osaka, Japan. I’m here visiting Issaid and Mie Arechiga, who are friends I’ve known for over 20 years. They were in the first church plant Dawn and I worked at while we ministered in Mexico City.

Osaka is a city of more than 17 million people, and less than 1% call on the name of Jesus!

Mie’s family lives here, and I’ve had a couple of chances to meet her brother, Hideaki. He doesn’t speak English and I don’t speak Japanese so our communication has been limited. Mie has been kind enough to translate for us.

Komachi and Takayasu Disease

Mie and Issaid shared with me that Hideaki’s daughter, Komachi has Takayasu disease, also known as aortic arch syndrome. It’s a condition that affects the arteries and it mainly affects women of Asian descent. Komachi is only ten years old, and she’s been in the hospital since July, because of this disease. The latest news is that she is expected to be in the hospital until November.

No one in Mie’s family believes in Christ. She feels burdened for her family. While Issaid and Mie are living in Japan they have the opportunity to share the love of Christ with their family.

The Gospel in Japan

I asked Mie and her brother if I could go to the hospital to pray for his daughter. He said yes! So this morning Issaid, Mie and I went to the hospital and we met Hideaki there. We went up to the floor that Komachi was on, and we shared Jesus with them.

We didn’t have much time, because of the schedule they keep at the hospital. Mie translated for me as I shared how sickness and death entered the world through Adam.

Our hope is in Christ alone. He is the answer to man’s sin.

Japanese people are on the shy side, but I felt like it was a good first step.

Then after Mie and I shared the gospel with her brother and her niece we prayed for the Lord’s healing touch. I’m praying that God will hear our prayer and she will be healed.

Lord, Hear Our Prayer!

O Lord, that you would show your mercy to this family and bring healing. As they see you work in a powerful way that they would also recognize that you are the true Lord and Savior. That they will bow the knee to you O Lord. Give Mie and Issaid wisdom and open doors to share the love of Christ with Hideaki, Komachi and the rest of the family.

Dear friends, please join us in prayer for this family. Japan is one of the most unreached nations on the planet. God often uses small things, so we pray he might use this testimony. Holy Spirit be poured out, and wake up this family and this slumbering people.

God’s Healing Work
Pastor Leo Nevarez and Dave

Pastor Leo Nevarez and Dave

On returning from Monterrey, Mexico I called Pastor Leo Nevarez. They operated on Leo a week ago to remove a “cancerous” tumor from his kidney.

We prayed for more than a month that God would heal Leo before the surgery!

I must admit I doubted whether the Lord would answer our prayer, but I wanted to believe him for it. Then after the surgery Pastor Daniel Nuñez posted on Facebook that God had miraculously healed Leo. Part of me still wondered. Forgive my lack of faith Lord.

Leo told me that they took out the tumor, which they thought was cancerous. They didn’t have to take out his kidney, because the tumor was near his kidney, but not in his kidney.

Then after they took the tumor out and they examined it the doctors said the tumor was benign. Leo is cancer free!

Thank You Jesus for Your Healing Touch!

Before the surgery when they did all the analysis it was showing that the tumor was cancerous, so how this happened apart from God’s intervention no one knows.

Dawn and I rejoice along with all of our friends at Lo Mejor del Trigo. We are thrilled for Leo and Gloria. What a huge victory!

The church that Leo leads in Rosarito is growing. People are coming to Christ. They are ministering to the homeless, to drug addicts and to other needy people in the name of Christ.

God is glorified in and through this church. He is lifted up through his healing work! Hallelujah!!!

In Awe of God
Worship with our friends from Lo Mejor del Trigo - A wonderful celebration!

Worship with our friends from Lo Mejor del Trigo – A wonderful celebration!

I love seeing God work in amazing ways. I’m in awe at times that Dawn and I along with our family is able to take part in God’s kingdom work.

I’ve mentioned my friend, Pastor Daniel Nuñez and the group of churches (Lo Mejor del Trigo) he leads in Tijuana and beyond numerous times. They are now up to 20 churches that they’ve started since 2005.

A Wonderful Day of Celebration

On Saturday they held their first conference for all the churches. More than 1,000 showed up for the Impacto de Gracia (Impact of Grace) conference.

Dawn and I loved the opportunity to be with many dear friends, and to celebrate with them.

The weather didn’t cooperate as they planned outdoor games and activities, but that didn’t seem to dampen the spirits of those who were there. Although many were huddled inside trying to stay warm and dry, there was a good group that played outside.

God Touched Many Through Worship and the Word

The highlight of the conference was the worship and keynote. Pastor William Galdamez gave the last message. There was so much energy in the room you could feel and see God’s spirit moving among the people, which touched Dawn and my heart as well.

More than 30 people responded to the gospel message and gave their lives to Christ!

Daniel Nuñez presented all the pastors, and when and how their work began. He even introduced us and shared with the crowd how we (Harbor Church and Mission to the World) had helped with two of the church plants, and we are getting ready to start a third.

Dawn and I left the event filled to the brim with God’s blessing. It’s so encouraging to not only watch all that God is doing, but to be able to play a part in it.

The Lord is responding to the prayers of his people. Thank you so much for standing with us in prayer.

Dawn’s Prayer Need

Speaking of prayer, on a side note, Dawn asked me to let you know that she would like prayer for the Lord’s healing touch on her Sinus. The doctor told her she needs to have surgery on her sinus, because of a bad infection that she has. She needs this done, in order for the oral surgeon to be able to finish the dental implant that he’s been working on. Our prayer is that God will heal her Sinus without surgery.

Thank you for caring!
