From Training to Testimony: Faith in Action in Durango
What if a routine trip to the pharmacy was actually a setup by the Holy Spirit? We often think of evangelism as a formal presentation, but for our friends in Durango, it’s becoming a lifestyle. After our recent training, we’re seeing that the most powerful sermons aren’t always preached from a pulpit, they are shared over a pharmacy counter and through the persistence of a faithful friend. Margarita’s story is a beautiful reminder that when we step out in faith, God opens doors we haven’t seen in years.
It has been incredibly encouraging to see how our friends in Durango continue to step out in faith and share the Gospel after participating in our Evangelism Training.
One of those participants is Margarita. She shared how much she enjoyed the training, especially the time spent connecting with other women and learning practical, Spirit-led strategies for evangelism.
But what’s most inspiring is that Margarita didn’t just learn, she put it into action.
The Power of Persistence
Margarita has remained in constant contact with three people she began reaching out to during the very first week of training: Rosita, Gisela, and Armando.
Sharing with Rosita has been a unique challenge. Like many in Mexico, Rosita is deeply devoted to traditional religious practices that focus on the worship of saints and the Virgen de Guadalupe. Despite these differences in belief and some difficult conversations, Margarita hasn’t given up—she continues to speak the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with love and patience.
Gisela and Armando have been more open. While Gisela knows the Gospel, she has been deeply hurt by the church in the past. Armando, on the other hand, has expressed a sincere interest in visiting Vida Durango Church. Margarita shares, “I can truly see their interest in knowing Christ.”
A Surprise at the Pharmacy
The Lord recently opened another door for Margarita during a routine trip to the pharmacy. To her surprise, she found women working there whom she had known for a long time but hadn’t seen in years. Recognizing this as the Lord’s perfect timing, she shared her faith in Christ right then and there.
The women were eager to learn more. Today, Margarita is following up with them by sharing the daily devotionals I send her. It is a beautiful chain of discipleship in action!
One of the women admitted that while her own mother is a believer, she had never been able to sit down and listen to her. As Margarita wisely noted, the Truth is often hardest to receive from those closest to us. It’s a powerful reminder that we never know who the Lord will ultimately use to open a person’s heart and draw them to himself.
Margarita is just one of many participants from the training who are putting their faith into practice. We are so proud of her and the others who are turning their training into a lifestyle of evangelism.
