Introducing a New Church in Chihuahua, Mexico
In the last year, I’ve started working with one of our new church plants in Chihuahua, Mexico. Chihuahua is the capital city of its namesake state and has a population of 950,000. Pastor Armando Cuevas is the church planter. He and his wife, Laddy are working together to lead this church planting effort.
Meet Pastor Armando and Laddy Cuevas
Armando and his wife, are incredibly gifted and have a wonderful ability to love and connect with people. One of their most effective strategies has been working with couples to strengthen their marriages. They’ve hosted seminars and short courses on marriage, addressing a great need in the community. Additionally, Mexicans love fiestas, and Armando and Laddy have used birthday parties and other celebrations to meet new people and build relationships.
It’s been a joy for me to encourage and minister alongside Armando. Before entering the ministry, he worked as a journalist. Both he and Laddy are from Guadalajara, where they successfully planted a church and handed over a thriving church to another pastor. Their move to Chihuahua was a significant step of faith after many years in Guadalajara. Armando and Laddy have three children: Gael, Chiara, and Noah. Gael, their oldest is 20 years old, he remained in Guadalajara to study at the university.
After more than a year of building relationships and leading seminars and Bible studies, they’ve built a strong nucleus. The group is growing, and they are ready for the next step. Armando and Laddy are launching their first public service this Sunday, January 12th. This is a pivotal moment for their ministry, and we ask for your prayers during this time. Recently, they’ve faced some spiritual opposition, including false rumors about the church being spread on social media. This underscores the need for prayer and protection as they advance the good news of the gospel.

I asked Pastor Armando how we could be praying for him and he said:
- Pray for wisdom and resources as they lead this church planting project.
- For the nucleus group they’ve formed, that they remain committed and passionate about the ministry.
- For the launch of the church this Sunday, January 12.
- For new opportunities to minister in the city.
- For his family—his wife, Laddy, and his children.
