Last week, we had the special opportunity to share about Hannah’s Toys of Hope with around 300 children at Village Seven Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs. This was extra meaningful and sentimental because when Hannah was a little girl, she attended VBS at this very church, and as a teenager, she returned to serve on the team that worked with the kids.

A Story from the Big Island

Each day, I shared a story about how God is using Hannah’s Toys of Hope to bless children on the Big Island of Cuba. I also taught them how to say “Hannah’s Toys of Hope” in Spanish: “Hannah – Juguetes de Esperanza.” The kids had a fun competition between boys and girls to see who could raise more support for the ministry. They were very motivated, and gave a generous gift!

God Never Forgets His Children

Here is one of the stories we shared during their VBS:

We want to tell you about something really special happening on the Big Island of Cuba. A place where some families have very little, but their faith in God is BIG!

Some of our amazing leaders travel to faraway places by horse-drawn carriage 🐎 to visit children in small communities. These leaders teach the children about God and share His love in fun and exciting ways!

One day, they visited a village called El Oriente Rebelde. The children there were so excited—they came from all over, walking long distances just to hear the Word of God and see what surprise might be waiting for them.

What was the surprise? A big, colorful ball! 🎁

As soon as they received their gift, the kids couldn’t wait to play—they were jumping, laughing, and running around with joy! 🥰 It was so beautiful to see their happy faces.

But that wasn’t all.

Flip-Flops and Tears of Gratitude

The leaders also brought pairs of flip-flops—something very simple, but very needed. One mother, with tears in her eyes, shared her story. She’s a single mom, and her children’s father had left them. She had no money to buy shoes, and her kids were walking around barefoot.

When her children received flip-flops from the ministry, she cried and said:

“Thank you for blessing my children. They had no shoes, and now they do!”

She also said something we’ll never forget:

A father may abandon his children, but God never forgets them.

Isn’t that amazing?

She had been praying and asking God for help—and God answered her prayer through a simple pair of shoes and the love of caring people.

These stories show us how God is always listening, and He uses people like YOU and ME to be part of His plan to bless others.

With every toy, every flip-flop, and every kind word, Hannah’s Toys of Hope is spreading joy and reminding kids that God loves them and will never leave them.

Let’s keep praying, sharing, and loving others—because small gifts can make a BIG difference!
