Expanding God’s Kingdom in Durango
After celebrating the wedding and visiting our family in Mexico City, we traveled to Durango, Mexico, to meet with Pastor Noe Reyes, who is planting a church called Vida Durango. It was exciting to see how the church is growing! This was our first time visiting our partners in Durango, and we had the privilege of attending a church service. We were encouraged by the strong sense of the Lord’s presence and enjoyed the opportunity to connect with the church leadership and congregation.

Vida Durango is part of El Centro para Plantación de Iglesias (CPI), a key ministry partner in Mexico. We are deeply grateful to collaborate with CPI to advance God’s kingdom through church planting.
Pastor Noe shared his vision for the church and future church plants in Durango, Mazatlán, and even Culiacán, Sinaloa. During the pandemic, the church struggled to grow and felt stuck—that’s when I began working with Noe. It has been incredible to see how he is reaching the community, particularly through sports outreach. The church has now grown to about 70 people attending regularly.

In addition, the Lord has opened a door to replant a church in a community where a core group of 15–20 people is already gathering. There’s also an exciting opportunity to start another church in a restaurant later this year.
A Movement Taking Root

It was inspiring to see how the Lord is using Noe and his team to reach Durango and beyond. Dawn, Jonathan, and I enjoyed meeting the church leadership and two other church planters—Arturo and his wife, Sonia, and Julio and his wife. We also had the joy of meeting leaders from churches in the state of Chiapas, who are interested in supporting the ministry in Durango.
One of the most pressing needs for Vida Durango is purchasing land and a building where they can establish their church and continue growing their ministry. God is bringing together resources, and we are working alongside them to raise funds to help make this a reality.

On our final day, we climbed a hill overlooking the city and prayed for Durango. Standing before a large cross, we felt the wind powerfully blowing, reminding us of the Spirit’s presence and the truth of Zechariah 4:6—
“Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.”
It was a powerful moment, reaffirming that Christ must remain central and that we must rely on the Holy Spirit in all we do.
When we returned home, Dawn shared how deeply moved she was by the love she felt for the people of Durango. She sensed God’s presence in a profound way throughout our time there. We pray that this same Spirit-led movement will continue in all the churches we plant throughout Mexico and beyond.
