Healing Hearts, Transforming Lives in Oaxaca
What happens when God heals a wounded heart and then uses that person to bring healing to others?
That’s exactly what we are witnessing through the ministry of Hospital de Fe (Hospital of Faith) Church in Oaxaca, Mexico.
The Lord continues to bless Pastor Eliel and Jessica Osorio as they faithfully shepherd this growing congregation. New people are coming to faith in Christ, believers are growing deeper in their walk with the Lord, and lives are being transformed by the power of the Gospel.
One of those lives belongs to our friend Keyla.
We first met Keyla during our visit to Oaxaca last October. She is a dentist with a deep love for Jesus and a passion for serving others. God has opened doors for her to partner with an evangelistic outreach ministry that serves impoverished communities by meeting both physical and spiritual needs.
As part of these outreaches, Keyla provides free dental care while ministry teams share the Gospel, pray for people, and minister to families. Her service has taken her not only to communities throughout Mexico but also to places as far away as Panama and Thailand.
Recently, Keyla joined Pastor Eliel and a ministry team on an outreach trip to San Quintín, Baja California, about five hours south of where we live. During the trip, Eliel shared the Gospel with more than one hundred people, while Keyla cared for many of their dental needs.
It is always inspiring to see believers using their gifts and professions as tools to serve the Kingdom of God.
A Special Visit
Since the team flew through Tijuana, Keyla was able to spend a few days with Dawn and me after the outreach.
What a blessing that time was.
We enjoyed showing her around San Diego, sharing meals together, and hearing more of her story. As we spent time together, she shared how God has used Hospital de Fe Church to help her grow spiritually and find healing from past hurts.
Her testimony reminded us that the Church is much more than a building. It is a family where people encounter God’s love, experience restoration, and discover their calling.
Of course, we would have loved for Eliel and Jessica to be with us as well, but having Keyla visit made us feel connected to our dear friends in Oaxaca. We were grateful for the opportunity to encourage her and get to know her better.
Looking Ahead
As Hospital de Fe continues to grow, there is another exciting milestone on the horizon.
This August, the church hopes to officially organize as a congregation within the National Presbyterian Church of Mexico. This means they have reached the point where qualified elders and deacons have been trained and are ready to help lead the church into its next season of ministry.
