Our House
Our House

We’ve prayed for our house to sell for over a year now, so we could move to the San Diego – Tijuana border. Our house has been on the market for almost exactly one year. I remember when we first put our home up for sale, my wife, Dawn said to me I think our home will sell in just a few weeks.
We both thought it would sell quickly, but the Lord had other plans.
It’s been hard to wait. In June as we were praying and discussing our home, and the need to move we decided that if our home didn’t sell by July 31 that we would try to rent it. We felt like it was a type of fleece before the Lord. Well, this Thursday night we go a contract on our home. Today the earnest money will be paid, and we are set to close on August 9th.
I must say after waiting a year it seems like now everything is happening so fast. We are flooded with emotions and stressed thinking about packing up and getting the house ready. What lies ahead is exciting, but there are some difficult things too. Our son, Jonathan is planning on staying in Colorado. It hit me yesterday, we will only have about three more weeks with him before we say good-bye.
When we first considered moving to Colorado, my wife said to me, “we don’t know anybody there, and it’s cold.” My response, “we’ll only be there about a year I think we can handle it.” Now more than 12 years later we are moving and we know a lot of people. We have some deep and enduring friendships, so it will be bitter to say good-bye to the many friends that we love.
I guess I’m saying, we are excited, but there is also some sadness and fear mixed in. It’s easier for Dawn and me, because it’s not the first major move we’ve made. That’s given us some perspective. It’s harder on our kids. We appreciate your prayers for our family.
It's in His hands
God’s timing is not our timing

Thanks so much for all of you that have prayed for us, and been with us on this journey. We are so thrilled by what lies ahead. God is in this. This is His perfect timing. We realize that we are at a much better place this year to move than we were last year. It was hard to see that last year, because we didn’t have the perspective of the added months that we now have.
I’m drawn again to Solomon’s reminder in Proverbs 16:9 that God establishes our steps.

“The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.”

Continue to pray for us as we prepare to move, as we say good-bye. Pray that we don’t encounter any snags during the inspection of the house and closing. Also pray for the Lord to provide the perfect home for our family needs and our ministry as we move.
In His Grip, Dave

Will certainly continue to pray for every missionary endeavor that comes your way, dear brother. Especially for the children. Believe you me, uprooting family, etc., to go to Alaska, to leave Alaska, and with our youngest daughter now a senior in High School… wow. There are blessings to be sure, but there have been some… well, we’ll just call them providential opportunities for Christ-conforming character-building. Bless you and your entire family. It is a privilege to pray for you.

Thank you – I feel like when we decided to do this, that the Lord confirmed that this would be something good for our whole family. I trust that that is still true.
