Celebrating the Growth and Faith at Hospital de Fe Church
Our church plant in Oaxaca, Hospital de Fe (Hospital of Faith) Church, is experiencing incredible growth and transformation.
The Lord is truly at work and answering our prayers. On Saturday, December 14, they held a Christmas celebration at the church. Their choir, with 41 voices, made their debut, leading a night filled with worship and joy. They served 260 plates of food and pushed their meeting place to its limit. More than 70 first-time guests attended, and many of them gave their lives to Christ.
Pastor Eliel shared with me, “We give thanks to God for the 70 guests who attended. We witnessed the birth of new believers who called upon our Lord. Glory to the God! Thank you for praying for us and supporting us.”
When Pastor Eliel expresses his gratitude, it is not only toward Dawn and me but also toward you. Your prayers and support fuel this ministry, which continues to impact communities on the Border, the Baja, and Beyond.
Eliel also shared a video of highlights from the night (see below). As I watched it, tears filled my eyes. I was deeply moved and encouraged. Ministry work can be challenging, and we don’t always see the fruit we hope for. Witnessing how God is using Eliel and Jessica—a couple we dearly love and consider family—was a powerful reminder of His faithfulness.

A Season of Trials and Triumphs
Eliel and Jessica have endured a season of profound challenges over the last couple of years. In 2023, Eliel experienced the heartbreaking loss of both of his parents within the span of nine months, and their family has faced several other personal hardships. Most recently, Eliel had to make an unplanned trip to Mexico City because of the sudden passing of his cousin earlier this week.
This season has been marked by God’s faithfulness, with triumphs and growth that shine brightly amidst the difficulties. It’s a powerful reminder of the importance of continued prayer and encouragement as they press forward in mnistry.

God at Work in Cuba: A Call to Help
While we celebrate God’s faithfulness in Oaxaca, we are also moved by the urgent needs of our Familia in Cuba. Pastor Dunesky recently shared that the financial aid we sent arrived just in time to prevent his family from going hungry. While hearing of these challenges is heartbreaking, it’s a powerful reminder of God’s perfect timing and provision.
This is not an isolated story. We repeatedly hear similar testimonies from our brothers and sisters on the Big Island. Despite extreme hardships, the church in Cuba continues to grow, and the light of Christ shines brightly.
We are especially encouraged by how the Lord is using Hannah’s Toys of Hope to bring joy and hope to children and their families. By providing toys and school supplies to children who have so little, this outreach opens doors to share the gospel and foster new church plants. It’s a blessing to serve these beautiful people we call our Familia.
