Expanding God’s Kingdom
Dawn and I were overjoyed to celebrate the first anniversary of Iglesia Verdad y Vida (Truth and Life Church) in Mexicali. It’s hard to believe that just one year ago, we stood alongside Pastor Federico and his wife, Blanca as we inaugurated this beautiful church. Today, we stand in awe of how God has moved powerfully through their ministry, transforming lives and drawing people to Christ.
We’re deeply grateful to everyone who supported this work and made it possible.
The church has come a long way since meeting in a park, where attendees braved Mexicali’s extreme desert temperatures. Many of those who found faith and began their journey with Christ back then have remained faithful despite the move to the church’s new location. It’s humbling to witness how God is sustaining and growing His people.
A Community Filled with Joy and Worship.
There is something truly special about the joy on the faces of the congregation as they gather to worship. They are proud of their church building, a tangible symbol of God’s goodness and provision.
Federico and Blanca’s four children are actively involved in leading the congregation in worship. Their oldest son, Junior, now 24, has a remarkable gift for ushering in the presence of the Lord. With passion and energy, he leads the church in songs of praise, giving his all for the glory of God. His enthusiasm is contagious, filling the church with joy and excitement as hearts are lifted in worship.
The church’s location in a growing community is also a blessing. Though the area is still developing, with several empty lots nearby, homes are being built, and new families are moving in. God opened the door for a friend with a construction business, Brent, to build a home for the Muños family right next to the church. This allows them to live in the neighborhood and serve as a welcoming presence for their neighbors. Already, some have begun attending the church, and we are confident God will continue to work in this community.
Spiritual Growth and Kingdom Impact
During the celebration Federico shared his gratitude to the Lord and to all those who have supported the church. His words deeply touched our hearts when he said, “Growing up, I didn’t have a father figure in my life. David has become like a father to me—a spiritual father and mentor.”
Hearing how God has used us to encourage and guide others is both humbling and inspiring. It fuels our passion to see more lives changed and transformed by the gospel. We give thanks to God for his faithfulness and pray for more of His powerful work as His church continues to grow not only in Mexicali but across the Border, the Baja, and Beyond!

God at Work in Cuba: A Call to Help
While we celebrate God’s faithfulness in Mexicali, we are also moved by the urgent needs of our Familia in Cuba. Pastor Dunesky recently shared that the financial aid we sent arrived just in time to prevent his family from going hungry. While hearing of these challenges is heartbreaking, it’s a powerful reminder of God’s perfect timing and provision.
This is not an isolated story. We repeatedly hear similar testimonies from our brothers and sisters on the Big Island. Despite extreme hardships, the church in Cuba continues to grow, and the light of Christ shines brightly.
We are especially encouraged by how the Lord is using Hannah’s Toys of Hope to bring joy and hope to children and their families. By providing toys and school supplies to children who have so little, this outreach opens doors to share the gospel and foster new church plants. It’s a blessing to serve these beautiful people we call our Familia.
