Beauty from Ashes in Rojo Gómez

What do you do when the very place that brings hope to your community is suddenly threatened by flames?

This was the heartbreaking reality for Pastor Abraham and Martha in Rojo Gómez. Just hours after Easter celebrations filled their church with songs of resurrection and new life, they stood before the blackened walls and ashes, a deliberate act meant to silence their mission and extinguish hope.

But this is not a story of defeat. It’s a story of redemption.

Instead of despair, something remarkable happened, the Body of Christ rallied. Prayers poured in. Support arrived from near and far. Out of the ashes, a new wave of hope began to rise, stronger and more determined than ever.

The Church Cannot Be Burned Down

We thank the Lord that no one was harmed and that the fire was contained before causing even greater destruction. Remarkably, this happened just one day after Abraham had announced plans to expand the church—news that apparently upset some in the area. Sadly, parts of the local community are deeply affected by drugs and witchcraft. While the church shines as a beacon of hope, it also faces dark opposition.

Yet God specializes in bringing beauty from ashes. What was meant to hinder the church has instead become a catalyst for growth. The response to our call for help has been incredible. Through the generosity of many, we were not only able to raise the funds for the repairs but also for the planned expansion of the church!

They have already begun work, not just to restore what was damaged, but to secure the building and move forward in faith, trusting that God will continue to protect and provide.

It reminds me of Genesis 50:20, where Joseph tells his brothers: “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.” It’s powerful to witness how God keeps His promises and how the Gospel continues to advance—even in the face of opposition.

It’s truly beautiful to see God’s people come together to stand with Pastor Abraham, Martha, and their church family in Rojo Gómez. Thank you for being part of this story of redemption.
