Two Years of Transformation at Verdad y Vida
This past Sunday, I stood in a place that once existed only as a prayer and a promise. As we celebrated the second anniversary of Iglesia Verdad y Vida (Truth and Life Church) in Mexicali, I couldn’t help but reflect on how far God has brought this church—from humble beginnings to a thriving place of hope, healing, and transformation. What began in a carport during the COVID-19 pandemic has become a living testimony of God’s faithfulness and your partnership. Mexicali is a desert city where summer temperatures can reach 120 degrees, and the park had no restrooms. I honestly don’t know how the women endured, they deserve a medal of honor!
Two years ago, the Lord provided powerfully. Through your generosity, we were able to help build a permanent church facility for Verdad y Vida. Our dear friends at Ministerios Transformación (Transformation Ministries), led by Pastor Daniel Núñez, guided the construction process. This became the ninth church we’ve partnered with MT to help build and plant—an incredible testimony of God’s faithfulness and partnership.
What excites me most about this church is not the building, but the lives that have been transformed inside it.
Lives Changed by the Gospel
When Miguel and his wife, Berenice, first came to the church, Miguel was not yet a believer. They arrived during a difficult season marked by illness in their family, but through that trial, Miguel encountered Jesus in a personal way. He was later baptized, and today both he and Berenice are growing in their faith and actively serving in the church.
Another powerful testimony is Lucio. When Lucio first arrived at Verdad y Vida, he came in a wheelchair, battling advanced colon cancer. Doctors believed he would not survive. The church prayed, and God, in His mercy and power, healed him. It was such a joy to meet Lucio and his mother and to see him healthy, full of gratitude, and eager to serve the Lord.
These are just two stories among many—evidence of how God is changing lives through His Church.
A Church Rooted in Family and Community
Verdad y Vida is located in a rapidly growing community, and every visit reveals new homes being built around it. We also partnered with friends to help the Muñoz family build a pastoral home next to the church, allowing them to live and minister right in the heart of the community.
I especially love how Federico and Blanca serve together with their children. Their oldest son, Junior, leads worship, and all four children serve on the worship team. They do a beautiful job ushering in the presence of the Lord, and I always cherish worshiping alongside them.
This church stands as a testimony of what God can do through faithful obedience, perseverance, and partnership.
